Introducing the Next Generation of Heavy-Duty Repair Shop Software
For more than a decade, Fullbay has had one goal: to make life easier for the people who keep the heavy-duty industry moving.
That mission has taken us into thousands of repair shops and more than 20 million work orders covering just about anything with an engine — class 8 trucks, light-duty vehicles, agricultural equipment, yellow iron, and more. Every one of those repairs has taught us something. We’ve learned how shops operate, where techs lose time, and where inefficiencies turn into real costs. We’ve seen what helps a repair business grow and what gets in the way.
Now we’re taking everything we learned and using it to build what comes next: Fullbay Next, the next generation of heavy-duty repair shop and fleet maintenance software. It’s fast, mobile-friendly, and AI-native from the ground up, and I believe it represents a major opportunity for the commercial repair industry.
AI Should Make The Shop More Productive
There’s a lot of conversation around artificial intelligence right now. Some of it is useful; some of it is hype. What matters to the Fullbay team is what AI can actually do for a shop:
Can it give a tech time back to do what they do best by reducing or eliminating administrative work?
Can it help an owner improve efficiency with greater visibility into the business?
Can it improve uptime and safety for everyone on the roads?
We didn’t build Fullbay Next with AI at its core because AI is trendy, or because we wanted to check a box. We built it that way because the technology gives us new ways to create meaningful outcomes for shops. That’s why it’s built into the workflow from the beginning, focused on solving the very real problems repair professionals face.
But AI is only as useful as the data behind it. Fullbay has spent more than a decade learning from those millions of heavy-duty work orders, representing the real repairs and real decisions made every day in commercial shops. That gives Fullbay Next a foundation built around how this industry actually works, rather than asking a generic AI to figure it out from scratch. And as Fullbay Next handles more work orders, it will learn even more — and become even more useful to the operations using it.
Right now, that might look like a tech dictating a quick voice note and letting Fullbay Next turn it into clean, professional documentation instead of sitting in the truck writing everything up after the job. It can also mean scanning an image to pull useful information from a photo and help identify what may need attention.
The goal is simple: make it faster to create the work order, document the repair, and move on to what’s next.
Shops Need More Time
In commercial repair, every minute matters. A tech writing notes, double-entering information, or fighting with software isn’t turning a wrench. That’s why we built Fullbay Next to be used from a phone or tablet, in the bay, or on the side of the road, with common tasks kept together so you don’t have to bounce between screens just to finish the job.
In a small repair operation, the owner is tech, service manager, parts manager, parts runner, and business owner — sometimes all before lunch. Fullbay Next can take some of those jobs off their plates. AI assistants like Claudia can answer incoming calls and gather customer information, and pass along what the shop needs for follow-up. Spike, meanwhile, can help inside Fullbay Next, answering questions and helping users find the information they need without stopping to dig for it themselves.
The goal isn’t to replace the people running the shop. It’s to give small teams extra help when they need it, so the owner can spend less time switching hats and more time focused on the work only they can do.
You’ll notice a theme here: The first version of Fullbay Next is built specifically for small shops, mobile repair businesses, and lean teams. A mobile tech can start with the Quick Work Order, document the repair as they go, preview the invoice, and send it before they leave the jobsite — because when you can spend less time managing the work, you can spend more time doing the work that earns.
Fullbay Next Is Built To Help Shops Grow
Greater efficiency saves you minutes or hours on a job, but it creates something even more important: capacity. If you can complete the administrative side of the work faster, invoice sooner, and keep better records without adding more work, you can take on more business — and grow.
Fullbay Next represents a major step forward for the repair industry. We’re building a platform that can become more intelligent, more connected, and more capable over time — one that starts by serving small shops and mobile repair businesses and grows to support larger, more complex shops and fleets.
This industry is built on innovation and adaptability. I believe AI is going to accelerate both. Done right, it won’t replace the expertise that makes a great technician or shop owner; instead, it will amplify it. It will remove work that doesn’t need to be done by hand. It will surface information faster. It will help people make better decisions.
It will give shops more time to focus on the things that actually grow a business: repairing equipment, serving customers, and keeping wrenches turning.
That’s the future we’re building toward.
We’re very excited, and we hope you are, too. We can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks.
