Hear ye, hear ye! Let it be known that the survey for the 2023-2024 edition of the State of Heavy-Duty Repair is open and ready for your contributions!
That’s right: we need your help to make this report the best it’s ever been. Not just the generic “you,” either. We mean you. Specifically you. The accuracy and depth of the report (which we’ve lovingly acronym’d as SOHDR) is completely dependent on getting diesel professionals like you participating in the survey.
HOW DOES THIS THING WORK, ANYWAY?
Hey, we’re glad you asked! Once you fill out the survey—which has several career tracks for techs, shop owners, managers, and so on to follow—your answers will be filtered (anonymously!) into our giant database.
When the survey closes, we’ll chain a data scientist to a desk and watch them start digging through it. That’s how we’ve come up with some of the cool information we’ve provided over the years, like the number of locations a shop has, or how labor rates vary by region.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO LEARN FROM THE NEXT REPORT?
The SOHDR provides a snapshot of the industry in the present moment. We’ll be digging into things like:
- What services shops around the country offer, and how much they charge for them;
- How much labor rates have changed between 2022 and 2023;
- Numerous benchmarks around revenue, hours, technicians, and more;
- A comprehensive look at the benefits shops offer employees;
- And so much other stuff, we can’t begin to outline it here.
Seriously. Every year we say we’re going to make the SOHDR bigger and better. And every year, we do just that.
Eventually it will be 10,000 pages and you will need a forklift to raise it (very fitting for our industry, eh?).
WHY WRITE A WHOLE REPORT ABOUT THE DIESEL INDUSTRY ANYWAY?
For real, though. A few years ago the fine folks at Fullbay realized there wasn’t really any sort of in-depth analysis of the industry as a whole available. You know—something that explored all facets of commercial diesel repair, something that explored what’s going well for shops, what challenges they’re facing, and how much those who work in the field are making.
OK, LET ME TAKE THE SURVEY!
Gentlepeople, start your engines! The survey should take about 15 minutes (or less) to complete, and remember, all data will be anonymized—we won’t be using this information against you. Take the survey today and you’ll automatically be eligible to win $100 gift cards from Amazon and $50 gift cards from All About The Grilles—and every weekday we’ll be giving away a Fullbay swag box to a different lucky soul.
So go forth and take the survey! Your voice and your impact on the diesel industry matters.
And good luck. We’re all counting on you.
